The Farm Project – La Grange First PC

Exciting news update from your WVP Mission Team:

The Farm Place, Inc. is now in its construction phase. First, a vision of a home study group addressing local children whose families are affected by our addiction epidemic; then, a program of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange to buy land and raise funds for a quick start; and now a corporation operated by its own board of directors – the reality of the vision is setting in as buildings go up.

The Farm Place, Inc. is a faith-based initiative whose mission is “To provide a safe, nurturing, and restorative place for children in need through therapeutic animal companionship and other methods.” This $1.2 million project is underway with construction of a House (framed and ready for shingles and siding) for a foster family to provide short-term safety for up to six children in urgent need of a home. A springtime goal is set for the House to be open.

Building #2: The Lodge plans have three meeting rooms and a kitchen to become a hub for supervised visits for licensed therapeutic professionals, ministers, teachers, CASA volunteers, court appointed officers, etc. It is designed to provide healing activities for any children with supervised visit treatment plans. A third adult volunteer will be on the premises for safety.

Building #3: Barn: Cared for by volunteers and the foster family, the Barn will be available for children at the Lodge to visit. Animals including goats, chicks, rabbits, llamas, a pony and a small dog are among the pets to be visited.

The Farm is now a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, independent from the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, which served as the home incubator for the project.

Support and land donation has come from local businesses, churches, grants, and individuals. $450,000 has been raised so far. Up to 3,000 visits per year are anticipated. Your WV Mission Team is pleased to be part of this much-needed, visionary mission project. Additional support is welcome and greatly appreciated.
